The SOTO WindMaster SOD-311 is the new WindMaster with a large 4-arm pot support as standard. The price is the same ¥9,350 (incl. tax) as the previous SOD-310. The stove alone is scheduled for fall 2026, and the Tri-Flex Set, which also includes a small 3-arm pot support, has been available since April 17.

With the previous SOD-310, the only way to fit a large pot was to buy the separate 4-arm pot support (27g, ¥2,090). The SOD-311 trims that 4-arm support to 22g and includes it from the start without raising the price. So I make the SOD-311, which takes any pot whether solo or for two, the new standard for the WindMaster.

Is the WindMaster SOD-311 worth buying? | Yes, buy the set
Plenty of people wanted to put a bigger pot on their WindMaster and added the separate 4-arm pot support. With the new SOD-311, that ¥2,090 is no longer needed.
The 4-arm support comes from the start, at the same ¥9,350 as before. I recommend the Tri-Flex Set, which also includes the 3-arm support.
How I judged it
The first thing I looked at was the weight with the 4-arm support. The SOD-311 is 60g + 22g = 82g. Next, I compared it with the previous SOD-310 fitted with the separate 4-arm support. What gave me pause was that the burner output is the same as the SOD-310, 3.3kW (2,800kcal/h), so the flame itself has not changed. I still recommend it because for the same price you no longer have to pick your pot, and it is 5g lighter. Hiking in Japan and abroad, my pot changes from trip to trip. One less thing to worry about with the pot support matters.

I'll say this with feeling. The 4-arm support is about 18.5% lighter, and 27g × 0.815 is about 22g. The numbers line up neatly. 5g lighter and ¥2,090 cheaper. It is rare for a new model to improve on both.
Compared with the SOD-310 alone with its 3-arm support (67g), the SOD-311 with the 4-arm support is 15g heavier. If a narrow solo pot is all you need, swap in the set's 3-arm support and it weighs the same 67g.

The bowl-shaped burner head with its raised ring around the rim is unchanged. It keeps wind from getting to the base of the flame.
The micro regulator is a valve that keeps the gas flow steady even when the canister cools and the pressure drops. SOTO claims that at −5°C it boils water in about half the time of a stove without one. It shortens the wait for hot water on a cold morning on the ridge.

Who it suits
It suits people who switch between a narrow solo pot and a wide pot for two depending on the trip. With the set, you just swap the two supports and either pot fits.
