No. 1 lightweight solo backpacking tent is the Heritage Hi-Revo. Body, fly and poles total 916g, the lightest of the 5 double-wall tents. For people who put price first, I put the Arai Tent Air Raiz 1 at No. 2, with the lowest price per gram at ¥39.6.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

Tent weights are often written without the stakes, guy lines and stuff sack. The omitted part is 140–220g, and it's all stuff you can't leave behind in the mountains. So I line tents up side by side by the stripped weight, then add the accessories back myself before choosing the one tent to buy.

Skip the reasoning and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • Official weights aren't counted the same way. Arai Tent and Heritage write stakes and guy lines separately, finetrack also writes a total weight, and NEMO gives only a minimum weight
  • Weight per square meter of floor is 485–762g among the 5 ranked double-wall tents. The lowest is the Hi-Revo, and the highest is the Trek Raiz 0
  • Price per gram is ¥39.6–¥93.4. The lowest is the Air Raiz 1, and the lightest Crossover Dome is the highest

My pick among lightweight solo backpacking tents is the double-wall Hi-Revo at 916g

Lining up 6 one-person backpacking tents by official numbers, weight for the body, fly and poles alone ran 630–1,360g and price ¥50,600–88,000. My No. 1 is the Heritage Hi-Revo, the lightest of the 5 double-wall tents.

But this "weight" doesn't include stakes and guy lines. For the Air Raiz 1, add about 220g of accessories and you get about 1,580g going into your pack.

How I chose

The first thing I looked at was the "minimum weight" of the body, fly and poles alone. That was the only place where every maker counted about the same way. Next I calculated the gap to total weight and weight per square meter of floor, and last I laid official prices over it to split close ranks by how much you pay for lightness.

  • Compare weights by minimum weight first, then add back the 140–220g of stakes, guy lines and stuff sack
  • The floor is 80–100cm wide. Even for one person, it varies from 1.64 to 2.2 m²
  • Look at double-wall tents first. A single-wall tent is lighter, but read the maker's caveats first

This ranking is made from what you can buy on Rakuten. mont-bell, sold only through its official shop, is shown as out of ranking, with its numbers listed.

These are the figures on each official page as shown on October 14, 2026, with tax-included prices. Minimum weight is body, fly and poles together (NEMO's is its official minimum weight). For mont-bell it's the body and rain fly, sold separately, added together. "Calculated" is a number where I added the official accessory weights myself. Floor area is width × depth, except NEMO, where I used the official area.

Why this order

RankModelWhy it's ranked here
1Hi-RevoThe lightest double-wall at 916g, and ¥23,870 cheaper than the next-lightest Tani OSMO
2Air Raiz 1The lowest price per gram at ¥39.6, but the heaviest double-wall
3Kamina Dome 1The official page gives even the weight breakdown and water resistance, but ¥71.9 per gram
4Tani OSMO 1PA 2.2 m² floor is the roomiest, but it's the most expensive and gives no total weight
5Trek Raiz 0110g lighter than No. 2, but 762g per m² of floor is the highest
6Crossover DomeThe lightest at 630g, but the maker writes that its intended use differs from an ordinary tent

No. 1 Heritage Hi-Revo | double-wall, 916g

I'll say this with some heat. 916g stands out from the other 5 double-walls. It's 204g lighter and ¥23,870 cheaper than the next-lightest Tani OSMO 1P. At 485g per m² of floor, it's also the lowest of the double-walls.

Here's the weak spot. The official page says the two mesh vents at the entrance can't be closed. It's a 3-season tent, a pick for people who want to cut weight first from summer to autumn.

No. 2 Arai Tent Air Raiz 1 | 2.05 m² floor, ¥53,900

¥39.6 per gram is the lowest of the 6 tents. Options such as a winter outer fly (570g, ¥20,350) are also available.

Here's the weak spot. At 1,360g it's the heaviest double-wall, and the seam waterproofing is a method where you apply the supplied waterproofing liquid yourself. It suits people who want to use it for a long time even if it takes effort. There's also the Light Air Raiz 1, 320g lighter.

No. 3 finetrack Kamina Dome 1 | with a breakdown of its 1,280g total weight

It had the most careful way of giving numbers. The body is 1,130g, plus 150g for guy lines, stuff sack and 8 stakes, and the water resistance is written as 1,600mm for the fly and 1,800mm for the floor (initial values).

What to watch is the price of ¥81,191. Adding the separately sold outer and inner tents makes it usable in all seasons. It suits people who want to choose gear with all the numbers given.

No. 4 NEMO Tani OSMO 1P | 2.2 m² floor

The 2.2 m² floor is the biggest of the six, and the 103cm interior height is also the tallest of the double-walls. Here's the weak spot. ¥88,000 is the highest, and the official page has no total weight, packed size or water resistance. It suits people who value space over budget.

No. 5 Arai Tent Trek Raiz 0 | 1,250g and ¥50,600

It's 110g lighter than the Air Raiz 1 and ¥3,300 cheaper, and a 3-season tent. What to watch is the 80cm-deep floor, the narrowest of the 6 tents. If 80cm of width is enough for you, it's 1 tent worth considering.

No. 6 Heritage Crossover Dome | 630g single-wall

630g with a 210×100cm floor. I still put it last because the maker itself writes that its intended use differs from an ordinary tent, calls it a dome-type zelt, and explains that strength and protection are the minimum.

Guy lines are sold separately. It's gear for people who choose it knowing the risks of going light.

Out of ranking: mont-bell Stella Ridge Tent 1 (bought at the official online shop)

The body (800g) and rain fly (350g), sold separately, add up to a minimum weight of 1,150g (1,360g total) and ¥49,000. It's 234g heavier than the No. 1 Hi-Revo and ¥15,130 cheaper. ¥49,000 is lower than any of the six ranked.

Double-wall vs. single-wall backpacking tents: the wall where condensation forms

The body of a double-wall tent is just water-repellent fabric. The waterproofing is handled by the outer rain fly, which for the Hi-Revo means 2,000mm water resistance. mont-bell also describes condensation as forming "on the underside of the rain fly." The body fabric sits as a layer between the water droplets and your sleeping bag.

On the single-wall Crossover Dome, the waterproof wall itself faces the interior. Heritage explains that a fabric of 1,230mm water resistance and 367g/m²/h breathability plus two vents "reduce" condensation. Arai Tent also writes that even with ventilation, it can't be prevented 100%.

Read the season and wind within the range of the maker's labeling. The Hi-Revo and Trek Raiz 0 are 3-season tents.

Who is it for?

This suits people who want to stay alone at a tent site outside snow season.

For hut stays or camping next to your car, there are other ways to choose. In snow season, an outer fly and snow fly are sold separately.

FAQ

How many grams makes a solo backpacking tent lightweight?

The 5 double-wall tents ranked weigh 916–1,360g, with a median of 1,130g.

What's the difference between minimum weight and total weight?

Minimum weight is just the body, fly and poles; total weight includes stakes, guy lines and the stuff sack. The gap here was 140–220g.

How much water resistance does a backpacking tent need?

In this article, the fly's water resistance is 2,000mm for the Hi-Revo, 1,600mm for the Kamina Dome and 1,000mm for the out-of-ranking Stella Ridge. On a double-wall tent, the fly with these numbers handles the waterproofing.
